It all started in Dayton.

The first Ohio Intramural Sports State Workshop was held in May of 1976 at the University of Dayton (UD) Physical Activities Center, and was hosted by the NIRSA State Director, Patti Holmes, and Billy Mayo, UD Director.

The UD Director welcomed approximately 25 participants. Dr. Jim Peterson, US Military Academy and NIRSA Regional Vice-President, gave the keynote address.

The one-day program was highlighted by a tour of UD’s Physical Activities Center and a commitment to begin a tradition of annual state workshops was agreed upon by all attendees.
