ORSA is proud to be able to provide a variety of scholarships and stipends to its members to help offset travel and/or registration costs associated with attending professional development opportunities. All applications for scholarships and stipends will be reviewed by the Professional Development Committee and evaluated on the following criteria:
  • The quality of the applicant’s submission responses
  • The quality of the applicant’s resume
  • ORSA involvement
  • Professional involvement

ORSA Travel and Development Stipend

ORSA offers travel and development stipends to active ORSA members who are in need of additional financial assistance to a development opportunity of their choosing. These stipends, while available year round, are limited, as they are offered on a first come, first serve basis. However, the Professional Development Committee would like to announce remaining opportunities for additional funding to our ORSA membership.

Requirements:
  • Each application must be completed and submitted by Friday, September 8, 2017 by 5pm.
  • Each applicant must also submit their professional resume/vita via email to the Committee Co-Chair, Alexandria Luneke at Alexandria.Luneke@UToledo.edu

Scholarships

Will M. Holsberry Student Scholarship

Eligible to currently-enrolled students, the Will M. Holsberry Student Scholarship offers assistance to undergraduate and graduate students to help cover registration costs associated with attending events like the annual NIRSA national conference and the ORSA State Workshop.

Scholarship Submission Requirements:
■ Each application must be completed in full and submitted by Friday, September 8, 2017 at 5:00pm.
■ Each applicant must submit their professional resume/vita via email to the Committee Co-Chair, Alexandria Luneke at Alexandria.Luneke@UToledo.edu
The ORSA Scholarship Committee will evaluate each application using the following criteria:
■ The applicant's career goals and commitment to NIRSA at the national, regional, and state levels.
■ The applicant's ability to clearly articulate their purpose for attending the workshop or conference.
■ The applicant's past involvement in NIRSA national, regional, and state workshop/conferences, committees, presentations, and volunteer opportunities.
■ The quality and professionalism of the applicant's resume/vita.



New Professional Scholarship

The New Professional Scholarship is offered to anyone working in the field of collegiate recreation as a full-time professional for less than 3 years and helps to offset the cost of professional development event registrations.

Scholarship Submission Requirements:
■ Each application must be completed in full and submitted by Friday, September 8, 2017 at 5:00pm.
■ Each applicant must submit their professional resume/vita via email to the Committee Co-Chair, Alexandria Luneke at Alexandria.Luneke@UToledo.edu

The ORSA Scholarship Committee will evaluate each application using the following criteria:

The ORSA Professional Scholarship is offered to anyone who has been working in the field of collegiate recreation as a full-time professional for 3 or more years. It helps to offset registration costs associated with attending professional development events.
